History

A Passion for Health, Naturally

When Ray Faltinsky was 15 years old, his life changed. He discovered that his mother, Martha, was ill with osteoporosis. Medical professionals advised that she would eventually be in a wheelchair. The Faltinsky family began to despair until Ray's older brother Ron, who was deeply involved in nutrition, made a special drink for Martha containing the nutrients vital to healthy bones. She agreed to try it, and slowly, over a period of months, the pain eased, and her mobility increased. When she returned to the doctor, the X-rays showed no evidence of this disease!

That single event began to shape Ray's passion for natural health, and fueled his desire to help people. So much so that when he graduated from Yale Law School, he knew he would never practice as a lawyer.

Together with his good friend Kevin Fournier, they founded FreeLife International to make that dream a reality. "We believed that we could build a company that would make a positive difference and would be a safe harbor for people who were looking for a permanent home," said Faltinsky.

DSHEA paves the way for FreeLife

With the passing of DSHEA in 1994, Congress empowered consumers to make choices about preventive healthcare.

With the ever-increasing costs of medical care and incidence of disease, Americans have become more aware of their health than ever. Much of the focus, especially in light of prolific scientific research over the last decade, is on the maintenance of good health through the use of nutritional supplements. Combine that with the aging of 76 million “Baby Boomers” who are searching for products that help them look younger, feel younger and live longer, and it’s no wonder the nutrition industry has exploded over the last few years.

In response to tremendous public support and overwhelming scientific data that dietary supplements work, Congress passed the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) with virtually a unanimous vote from the House and Senate. According to DSHEA, nearly 50 percent of Americans — 130 million people — regularly consume dietary supplements as a means of improving their health. DSHEA also determined, among its other findings, that:

1. The importance of nutrition and the benefits of dietary supplements to health promotion and disease prevention have been documented increasingly in scientific studies;
2. There is a link between the ingestion of certain nutrients or dietary supplements and the prevention of chronic diseases;
3. Consumers should be empowered to make choices about preventive health care programs based on data from scientific studies of health benefits related to particular dietary supplements; and
4. The nutritional supplement industry is an integral part of the economy of the United States.

DSHEA recognizes products that contain one or more dietary ingredients as dietary supplements. Dietary supplements can include the following ingredients: vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs and botanicals. Prior to DSHEA, products were subjected to an array of conflicting regulations and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) policies that led to confusion about the proper role of dietary supplements.

But DSHEA has made it possible for FreeLife to educate consumers by providing a broader scope of information about the benefits of dietary supplements. Through this education, empowered consumers are better able to make choices about their own health care regimens. DSHEA also confirms the right of nutritional supplement manufacturers to: describe the effect of a dietary supplement on the structure or function of the body; describe the biological mechanism by which a nutrient acts to maintain the structure or function of the body; and make general statements about well-being.

The passing of DSHEA was an important milestone for the nutritional industry — and for FreeLife. This legislation not only has enabled FreeLife to develop life-changing, scientifically proven nutritional supplements for millions of Americans who want to improve their health and well-being, but it also allows FreeLife to inform consumers about those health benefits. Exciting Atlantis Update!

June 16-20 2008
Qualifications Updated!

Dear Leaders,

We are happy to announce an exciting update to our
qualifications for the June Ambassador Retreat at the
stunning Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Rather than
basing qualifications for the trip on your high title,
we will be using your September paid title.
Here
are the details:

Advance at least four new titles above Director III
(or above your September paid title, whichever is greater)
OR Advance your Royal Ambassador title between October
1, 2007, and March 31, 2008

If you advance three titles above Director III (or above
your September paid title, whichever is greater), you
will be invited on the trip based on your increase in
10-level organizational points from your ending volume
on September 30, 2007, through March 31, 2008. All
Marketing Executives are eligible to participate.

Additionally, all Marketing Executives who qualify as
a Royal Ambassador for at least four of the six months
of the qualification period will win the trip. Because this
is an Ambassador Retreat, you must be at least a
qualified Ambassador at the end of the contest period.

Here are a few examples of how you can qualify:

Example 1
If your September 2007 paid title was Director III or
lower, you need to achieve the title of at least
Ambassador Ruby (four titles above Director III) no later
than March 31, 2008, to guarantee your spot on the trip.

Example 2
If your September 2007 paid title was Ambassador
Emerald, you need to achieve the title of at least
Ambassador I Emerald (four titles above Ambassador
Emerald) no later than March 31, 2008, to guarantee
your spot on the trip.

Example 3
If your September 2007 paid title was Director III, and
you achieve the title of Ambassador (three titles above
Director III) no later than March 31, 2008, you may qualify
based on your increase in 10-level points. But if you
want to be sure you are qualified, you would have to
advance to Ambassador Ruby or higher by the end of
the contest period.

Example 4
If your September 2007 paid title was Royal
Ambassador or above, you may qualify by advancing
one or more titles.

This new qualification applies only to the trip and does
not apply to the cash bonus. The qualifications to earn
the cash bonus remain the same – you must advance at
least four titles above your high title (not your September
paid title as it is for the trip) to earn the cash bonus.
